Grounding Techniques– Exercise

Complete the following exercises to finish the module.

Exercise 1 - Write a few of the techniques in a notepad or on a card. Practice these when you’re calm so that you’re prepared to use them when you feel anxious or when you notice a flashback starting.

Exercise 2 -Try a technique next time you feel your anxiety getting too much. This will help you know which will work for you in the future.

Exercise 3 - Which techniques do you find most useful? Why is this? Write you answer and show this to your guiding therapist.

Exercise 4 - Carry on using these techniques every time you feel very anxious or panicky. Also use them if you suffer from flashbacks. Write in your Diary when you use a technique. Describe whether or not it was useful.
